A warm welcome to YOGA BUNNIES and

CALMER LIVES

My journey

I worked as a teacher for nearly 18 years but struggled to juggle things as a new mum, wife and teacher. After 2 years as a childminder, in September 2018, Yoga Bunnies was created with baby massage and baby yoga.

Around the same time, I embarked on a Mindfulness course which changed my life. I was experiencing high levels of anxiety and the course showed me a new, less stressful way of living.

I wanted to share this with the world - or maybe to people in Bolton. I started by creating Baby, Mindfulness and Me, which is a mindfulness course and a full baby yoga class. I then started adult mindfulness classes

Self care is a big topic in the course, and I thought it would be a lovely to offer some element of self care, so I trained in Indian Head Massage in October 2022.

I also realised that many of my clients would benefit from 1 to 1 sessions. . I realised that I still had valuable coaching skills and so I updated my qualification and October 2023, I was accredited by the IAPCM as a life coach.

More recently, both my children have been diagnosed as having Irlen® Syndrome. After seeing the unbelievable different that coloured overlays and glasses brought to their lives, I decided to train as an Irlen® Syndrome Assessor.

Finally, after seeing the fantastic results of the Mindfulness course, my amazing hubby, Dave, is joining me and Calmer lives for Men will be launched in September 2024!

So there you have it- lots of different ways to make your life Calmer. Hopefully at least one of them will have a huge impact on your life,

Much Love,

Helen xx

Baby Classes

Award Winning Sensory Baby Massage

Sensory Baby Massage is a calm and relaxing class where the parent learns a series of massage strokes to use on baby. There are sensory lights and music throughout the session to keep baby mesmerised too.

The class builds up week on week, so we start with chest, tummy and legs and then add on other areas of the body. In the final week, baby will receive a full body massage.

What are the benefits of baby massage?

  • Increased relaxation and improved sleep
  • Develops the early parent and baby bond
  • Can help alleviate many baby ailments including trapped wind, colic and constipation
  • Gets baby used to positive touch
  • Helps baby feel loved, respected and valued from a very early age
  • Aids speech and language development
  • Offers an opportunity for parents to relax, share experiences and make friends

Included in the session, there is also a sensory activity including ‘tickles with pompoms’, bubbles and light up wands, to give baby the ultimate Sensory Massage experience. Suitable from birth until crawling. We do not use oil with baby until 4 weeks old. Please message me regarding advice on which oil to use.

Classes run term time only on:

Friday mornings @ 9.30am at Brazley Community Centre, Horwich

Award Winning Baby, Mindfulness & Me

Becoming a new Parent can be one of the most exhilarating times in your life, and also one of the most daunting. It is so easy to get so wrapped up in your new bundle of joy, that you forget to look after yourself.

Baby, Mindfulness and Me is here to re-address that balance, helping new parents look after themselves too.

The course combines a Yoga Bunnies Baby Yoga course with a Mindfulness course. Two courses for one great price!

I, myself, have experienced the huge benefits that practising Mindfulness can bring, including reduced anxiety, happiness, contentment, better sleep, better concentration and acceptance. Many of the activities are only 5-10 minutes a day, but can literally change your life.

There will be lots of mindful activities and a weekly meditation for Parents to enjoy too. We will look at how to become more mindful, Gratitude, Self-Care and Compassion and Being in Nature too.

For Babies 6/8 weeks- walking.

Baby Classes

‘I have really enjoyed this class and we got so much out of it. It has been a really good reminder to slow down and take a little more time back for myself. I have been taking more time to exercise instead of always doing ‘jobs’ and tried to get at least 10 minutes a day where I just sit by myself and have a brew and enjoy the garden. I really enjoyed the gratitude diary too. This is something I have not done before but I’m going to make it a regular thing to do.’

Sarah - Baby, Mindfulness and Me

Baby massage was the first class I ever took my baby to. I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect, however I needn’t have worried- Helen made me feel at ease straight away. The massage class was brilliant and I have learned a lot of techniques that I now use at home too. Helen mixes it up each week and there’s even a bit of tummy time in there! I have made some good friends from the class and going for a coffee with them after has been a highlight of my week! Thanks Helen!

Louise- Sensory Baby Massage

I started taking my son to baby massage at 4 weeks old this was our first outing alone. Helen is amazing so welcoming, friendly and full of knowledge! It’s a great way to meet local mums and babies. I learnt so much doing this course, I had no idea about all the benefits for babies of massage. It’s so lovely having that dedicated time with your baby focusing on them and bonding! I cannot recommend this class enough we love it!

Irlen® Syndrome Assessment

Recently my two children have been diagnosed with Irlen® Syndrome.

This was identified at school as both were intelligent but were reluctant readers and poor spellers. Irlen® Syndrome is often hereditary and can run in families. Can you believe my surprise when I was diagnosed (nearly 49? I did not have any idea that I had it. Now it all makes sense and I have a great excuse for the quality of my parking! Ha ha!.

Irlen Syndrome is a type of visual or perceptual processing disorder. Someone with a visual or perceptual processing disorder has difficulty making sense of visual information. . When an individual suffers from Irlen Syndrome, their brain has difficulty processing certain wavelengths of light. In this way, light (especially bright and fluorescent lighting) becomes a stressor on the brain. Light sensitivity is very common with Irlen Syndrome This stress causes certain parts of the brain (e.g., the visual cortex) to become overactive. It is this over-activity and inability to effectively process visual stimuli that creates a variety of visual, physical, cognitive, emotional, and neurological symptoms.

Irlen Syndrome is hereditary and tends to run in families, affecting males and females equally. However, an individual can also acquire symptoms of Irlen Syndrome as a result of illness, medical procedures, or traumatic brain injury (or concussion). Fortunately, it is very easy to treat Irlen Syndrome.

it is thought that 50% of people with ADHD have it

50% of people with Dyslexia

30% of people with Autism

It is believed that 20% of the population in the UK have it...many undiagnosed. These people may have regular headaches, eyestrain and hate reading.

.
